Futian Sam's Club: the bus and crossing options from Hong Kong

HK$65 buys a one way seat on the only bus that runs straight from Kowloon to the door of Futian Sam's Club, no MTR change, no wheeling a trolley through gates yourself. Do it the DIY way through Lok Ma Chau instead and you'll pay a fraction of that, but you'll be moving your own luggage through two immigration halls to get there.

The direct bus: skip the interchange entirely

The direct service is run by Eternal East Cross-Border Coach, still marketed on booking platforms under its pinyin name, Yongdong Bus. It picks up at more than ten stops around Hong Kong, Diamond Hill, Mong Kok/Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan among them, and heads for the SCPG Center at 69 Nonglin Road in Futian, where Sam's Club occupies the first two floors. Current listed fares run HK$65 one way or HK$100 return, and Klook has around 13 round trips a day on the timetable, so you're rarely waiting long between departures.

Here's the catch. This coach actually crosses at Shenzhen Bay, not at Futian/Lok Ma Chau, because Shenzhen Bay is the nearby checkpoint built for vehicles. Everyone gets off the bus at the port, walks through Hong Kong and mainland immigration on foot, then re-boards the same coach on the other side. It's simple enough once you've done it once, but budget extra time if this is your first run, and note that Shenzhen Bay operates 06:30 to 24:00, so a later than planned return isn't the problem it would be at some other crossings.

Doing it yourself through Lok Ma Chau

If you'd rather keep the fare down and don't mind one change, Lok Ma Chau really is the closer crossing on a map, and it lands you almost in Sam's Club's back yard. Take the MTR East Rail Line to Lok Ma Chau, cross the footbridge into Futian Checkpoint, and you're already standing in Futian district. The port itself runs 06:30 to 22:30, tighter hours than Shenzhen Bay, so this route suits a morning or early afternoon run better than a late one.

From the checkpoint bus terminal, look for the free "Futian Happy Shopping" Line A shuttle (福田歡樂購A線), fare RMB2, which drops you a five minute walk from the store near the Shenzhen Eye Hospital stop. If you'd rather take the metro the whole way, Nonglin station on Line 7 sits on the same road as the store itself, and Qiaoxiang on Line 2 is a further ten minute walk if Line 7 doesn't suit your route in. Either way, you're paying single digit yuan for the last leg, not the HK$65 the coach charges for the whole trip.

What this actually costs you in time

Nobody publishes an official door to door time for the direct bus, and it depends heavily on where in Hong Kong you board, so treat any specific figure you see quoted online with some suspicion. What I can tell you from doing this crossing myself: the Shenzhen Bay walk through immigration adds a real chunk of time on a busy weekend, easily 20 to 30 minutes on top of the ride itself. The Lok Ma Chau route trades that for a shorter, usually faster crossing, plus a short shuttle or metro hop that rarely takes more than 15 minutes once you're through the gate.

Store hours are listed as 07:00 to 22:00 daily, though I'd confirm before a special trip since mainland retailers do shift hours around public holidays.
