Shenzhen Bao'an Airport from Hong Kong: coach options

Updated 5 October 2026

Three ways cover almost every Hong Kong-to-Shenzhen Bao'an Airport trip: a coach from Wan Chai or Kowloon that drops at the terminal, MTR-plus-metro if you have light luggage, or a private car if you are three or more. The coach wins on cost if you live on Hong Kong Island or in Kowloon; MTR-plus-metro wins on price and frequency and is the right call at peak times when coaches sell out.

The short version

Take a coach from Wan Chai MTR Exit A1 or the Regal Hong Kong Hotel, dropping at the Shenzhen Bao'an Airport terminal, for about HK$130 one way. Book the day before. MTR-plus-metro is competitive if you live in Kowloon or the New Territories with light luggage. The new February 2026 Bao'an District coach runs in the opposite direction, leaving the Hilton Garden Inn Shenzhen Airport at 8:05 a.m., 2:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m., so it is the right answer on a return trip, not on a flight out.

The new Bao'an District coach

A new cross-border bus route linking Bao'an Fuyong and Huide with Hong Kong officially launched on 26 February 2026, according to the eyeShenzhen report of 28 February. The route was developed by the Bao'an District Transport Bureau. The two boarding points are the Hilton Garden Inn Shenzhen Airport in Huide and the Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen Airport, with the service also reaching Tongtai Times Square. In its initial phase, the line operates three fixed departures daily from the Hilton Garden Inn at 8:05 a.m., 2:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. It offers direct connections to Hong Kong International Airport and to more than thirty popular Hong Kong stops, including Disneyland, Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay. Tickets are sold through the WeChat miniprogram 三地通. The first direction is Shenzhen to Hong Kong.

Hours actually matter here

Cross-border coach schedules are tighter than the Hong Kong MTR but looser than the Shenzhen Metro, and the last Hong Kong pickup of an airport run is usually around 9 p.m. If your flight lands at SZX after 11 p.m., you are staying in Shenzhen or paying for a private car. The Hong Kong Immigration Department control-point table governs the border itself; the new Huanggang Port is 24-hour for passengers, but coach services are not. Check the morning you travel, since schedules move around Chinese holidays.

What direct really means

A direct coach is a coach with no transfer at the border. You stay on the bus, the driver clears both sides, and your luggage stays in the underfloor hold. The CTG BUS service from Wan Chai MTR Exit A1 to Shenzhen International Airport is direct, starting at HK$130 one way. Most Airport-Express branded services from Hong Kong International Airport are also direct. Routes that say via Futian or via Huanggang mean you change buses, sometimes more than once. Be honest about what you are buying.

What to do in the meantime

Book the day before. Confirm the pickup point at Wan Chai MTR Exit A1 or the Regal Hong Kong Hotel, and confirm the airline check-in cutoff, usually two hours before a domestic departure. Arrive at the pickup fifteen minutes early, not five: the coach will not wait. Keep your Home Return Permit or mainland travel permit in your hand, not in checked luggage. If you do not have a mainland permit yet, the linked explainer covers who qualifies.
